Philly accidentally shoots GF’s daughter outside McDonald’s

A Philadelphia man has been arrested for accidentally shooting his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter in the parking lot of a local McDonald’s, according to authorities.

Derrick Marshall is facing counts of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence and firearms violations, among other related crimes in connection with the inadvertent gunfire, police said Thursday.

He had just parked outside the McDonald’s at the corner of Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue and was walking with the girl into the fast food joint when his weapon discharged on Wednesday around 6 p.m.

“You see her on video — her legs buckle” just outside the restaurant’s entrance, Chief Inspector Scott Small told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Police said 32-year-old Marshall then rushed the girl, who was struck in the right calf, to Temple University Hospital a few blocks away. She was listed as stable before she was transferred to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, according to authorities.

Police officers who responded to the McDonald’s were able to track Marshall’s car to the hospital, where he was questioned and then taken into custody. Authorities also recovered a pair of firearms at the time of his arrest.
