I’m a beauty expert – this is the best lipstick I’ve tried this year

Nars Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick in No Inhibitions, £27.50 (narscosmetics.co.uk)

I donned a sequin jumpsuit and went to the Brit Awards recently – and it turned out to be the ideal test for a new lipstick. After much deliberation between me and my four year old fashionista, I picked my poison – the new Nars Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick in No Inhibitions, a beautiful deep raspberry pink.

Part of the brand’s Afterglow collection (the Irresistible eyeshadow palette, £55, is also excellent), there are six new shades to choose from, with pinks, browns and berries in the mix.

Application was easy, with no drag and a high pigment payoff from first glide. Mango and shea butters, along with monoi oil kept things hydrated and comfortable – something which would last all night long.

So off I went to the Brits. And, from cheek kisses to pre-show drinks and post-show snacks, my lippie was put to work.

It more than survived the party, remaining in place, not smudging, caking or drying. I topped it up once when I nipped to the loo between awards, although it didn’t wholly need doing. Impressive.
